The Durable Agent Pattern: Temporal Meets LLMs in Production
A while-loop is the wrong spine for agent work that spans hours, retries and human approvals. A durable workflow engine is the right one.
The production agent is not a while(!done) { agent.step() } loop running inside a web handler—it is a workflow that happens to call an LLM, where every step is idempotent, every retry is cheap, and every decision is replayable from the log.
